It is certainly the beautiful story of this beginning of summer in Fort-Mahon-Plage (Sum): Ron, a two-year-old cat, who had been missing since Thursday April 21, 2022, in the dunes of Fort-Mahon-Plage, was found sixty-two days later. It was returned to its owners on Saturday June 25, 2022 in the premises of the bar and chip shop At the gates of Authie. A brief reminder of the facts.

“We made up our minds”

In April, they decide to take a few days off in Bay of Somme. A first for this family from Troyes. But their vacation will quickly be tarnished. On Sunday April 17, 2022, their cat was attacked by a hunting dog.

Luckily, his masters manage to defend him. Four days later, while the siblings are walking on the Royon trail in Fort-Mahon-Plage, Ron, who is in a backpack, takes fright, jumps and flees into the dunes. Despite numerous appeals from its masters, the cat will never reappear. More than two months of anguish and fear will follow. But also research. Eventually successful.

“We are all very happy”

It’s unimaginable. It is really necessary to underline the solidarity of the inhabitants of Fort-Mahon-Plage. They have been great. This shows the human side of the people of the Baie de Somme.

Her face exudes happiness. But above all the relief.

“After a few weeks, we made up our minds,” she says. I thought Ron would never find him because he’s a comfort-loving cat. My husband had even bought me a dog to fill my pain. We are really super happy. When we found him, he recognized us.

“This cat is a miracle”

She recognizes him. Wednesday, June 22, 2022, when she received a call from Sabine Michel, from the association of free cats of Fort-Mahon-Plage, she could not contain her tears. Just like her husband, Christophe and her two children, Lily and Valentin.

“My wife had been very saddened for weeks, confides the father of the family. There were a lot of emotions. We were afraid of never finding him. I was worried that he was injured or that he lacked water. It’s a story that ends very well. We are all very happy”.

Veterinarian by profession, Christophe Robert examined his cat from the reunion. And the news is reassuring.

Overall he is in good shape. He has a few sores but nothing serious. I brought everything needed to treat him. But this cat is a miracle. I picked him up when he was very young. He had just been abandoned. He was even nearly euthanized because he was not well at first. What matters today is to have found it. We are very happy.

And above all relieved.
