An American soldier father of 6 children had an encounter during his 15th overseas deployment that turned his life upside down. He discovered a family of dogs in need and couldn’t bring himself to abandon them to their sad fate. For Father’s Day, he asked for help to be able to repatriate a rescued puppy.

A sudden disappearance

One morning, while the troop was on their way for yet another game with the doggies, the soldiers noticed that they had strangely disappeared. No more the slightest trace of Cooper nor babies.

After several hours of searching, they unfortunately found the lifeless body of Cooper and further, a frightened and sick female puppy.

The sergeant therefore rescued her and swore to become her new dad. He called her Cooper Junior (a.k.a CJ) and asked for help from the association paws of warwhich ensures the process of transporting animals from disaster areas to United States.

CJ was transferred to a veterinary clinic and received the care necessary for her good recovery. The first days were complicated, but the survivor was able to show resilience, supported by the tenderness of the sergeant macintire.

From now on, only one thing matters to him, to bring her back to his home in the State ofUtah (United States) in which she will be pampered by all the members of her family for the rest of her life.

The organization paws of war has therefore launched an appeal for donations to help finance veterinary costs and air travel. “We are always happy to help our soldiers repatriate the animals they rescued while deployed to their loved ones, to wait for them when they return home”said Dereck Cartrightvolunteer of the association.
