A dog, sitting like a human, looks at everyone “with contempt” in the boarding house for dogs

If you stop on West Street in downtown Raleigh, you’ll notice a female dog like no other. The dog bar that doubles as a daycare is usually full of dogs having fun together, but Pogo wants none of that.

The 4-year-old bulldog-boxer mix prefers to stay out of the fray, sitting on a bar stool like a human. From his position, Pogo can observe and judge his fellow creatures. And she’s not impressed.

This week, a video of Pogo in action has gone viral and people are having all sorts of theories as to why Pogo refuses to hang out with the other dogs. Some assume she’s introverted, others that she may not be a dog person.

The dog’s owner, Grace Wheeler, works on West Street and brings her pet to work with her every day. She has her own opinions when it comes to Pogo’s cocky attitude.

“When she gets on the chairs, we think it’s her way of trying to let other dogs know that she thinks she’s better than them,” said Wheeler. “I’ve worked in a few kennels and she’s always climbed on stools or anything that’s intended for humans. She’s our little critical queen! ”

But Pogo doesn’t just sit like a human, she’s also adopted many other weird human gestures.

“She likes to snuggle up in bed like a human, sit on things (chairs, the bar, benches, sometimes people)”, Wheeler said. “She likes to get in the car and put her paw out the window like a human (which seems to be a theme for her). She loves people more than dogs. »

The dog’s unique attitude earns her a lot of attention at this dog bar. “She has a lot of fans”, Wheeler said. “We post it on West Street Instagram and people come to watch it all the time.”

Although Pogo may not be interested in playing with other dogs, his owner loves him for the unique dog that she is. “She has brought nothing but love and joy to us and everyone she interacts with,” Mr. Wheeler said.

And Pogo will follow his mother everywhere, as long as there is a stool to keep her away from the others.
